Mobility-enhanced positioning in ad hoc networks

چکیده
This paper discusses and investigates the effects of mobility on positioning of wireless ad hoc networks. We present a Mobility-enhanced Ad hoc Positioning (MAP) scheme, where we leverage on the mobility of nodes within the network. The scheme uses the hop counts information from fixed reference nodes to perform positioning and improves accuracy by using mobile nodes to “bridge” gaps within neighborhoods where accurate information was not available. Simulation shows that using mobility does improve the performance of such “hop count”-based positioning schemes. Keywords-ad hoc networks; positioning; location estimation

A Fuzzy Realistic Mobility Model for Ad hoc Networks
Realistic mobility models can demonstrate more precise evaluation results because their parameters are closer to the reality. In this paper a realistic Fuzzy Mobility Model has been proposed. This model has rules which are changeable depending on nodes and environmental conditions. It seems that this model is more complete than other mobility models. After simulation, it was found out that not o...
متن کاملEvaluation of Mobility Model with MANET Routing Protocols
MANET is class of an emerging technology of ad hoc networks. Ad hoc networks can be built around any wireless technology, including infrared, global positioning system (GPS), radio frequency (RF) and so on. Each node in a MANET is free to move freely in any direction, and therefore it will change its links to other devices frequently. Mobility model shows how the speed and direction of a node c...
متن کاملEnergy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization
Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...

متن کاملThe Feedback Based Mechanism for Video Streaming Over Multipath Ad Hoc Networks
Ad hoc networks are multi-hop wireless networks without a pre-installed infrastructure. Such networks are widely used in military applications and in emergency situations as they permit the establishment of a communication network at very short notice with a very low cost. Video is very sensitive for packet loss and wireless ad-hoc networks are error prone due to node mobility and weak links. H...
